Sat May 28 – Make a Vote Banner

unnamed

MAY 28, 2016, 11AM-3PM

This month Sewing Rebellion goes civic with a free nonpartisan sewing party to outfit our homes and businesses for the election season. We’d like to invite everyone to rethink and remake political signage – transform it from the traditional aesthetic of disposable card stock signs into long-lasting, beautiful, handcrafted objects that we’ll reuse year after year to show our commitment to civic participation.

No skills needed!
This workshop is FREE and open to all – and includes materials, equipment use, and food & beverage.

Please note, this workshop takes place during our regular brunch hours and replaces the Sewing Rebellion that we host on the 4th Wednesdays of every month. We will provide complimentary food & beverage to all participants. Our regular brunch menu will be available again on Sunday, May 29.

Sewing Rebellion is a free workshop, which began in Chicago Fall of 2006 and now has a home base in Long Beach CA, at the Institute 4 Labor Generosity Workers & Uniforms (ILGWU). Workshops are held monthly at ILGWU and at Thank You For Coming, home of the LA Chapter.

Hosted by Frau Fiber and an army of Faux Fraus, the Sewing Rebellion distributes knowledge of the garment industry, pattern making and sewing, and encourages the reuse, renovation and recycling of existing garments and textiles in the creation of unique items.
